Local Governments Social Services Symposium
Any situation that can be considered fragile or disadvantageous to the ordinary living conditions of society - especially social assistance, compliance and integration policies, work on relations, work for disadvantaged persons and groups, strengthening families, physical and mental support projects for young people, home care services, elderly services and work for children - is covered by and necessitates social services. In municipalities in particular, social services are now taking a more active role in terms of the breadth of their service area, their flexibility in policy making and their liaison facilities with different segments of society. The purpose of the Local Governments Social Services Symposium is to evaluate projects already implemented by the municipalities, to share good practices and experiences, to provide academic-municipal cooperation, to lay the foundations of different projects for the future and to provide new services to disadvantaged groups.
At the first Local Governments Social Services Symposium, which was held in Istanbul on September 21, 2017 in cooperation with Istanbul Civilization University, ideas were exchanged and cooperation was evaluated by academics, municipal representatives and representatives from the Turkish Red Crescent, AFAD, TIKA, Yunus Emre Institute, and Presidency for Turks Living Abroad and Relative Communities.
